Pepper the Witch

Pepper Lamiascea originally came to be as a character for a friend's role-playing game, but I liked the idea so much that I just had to make art for her. Several times. Or rather, several iterations that change every time I post it, because apparently, I have no self control and I can't just leave my own art be.

But the first one, back from the Tumblr days, came with a little write-up that I decided to include below, even if I can't help but feel it's a wee bit cringe. So enjoy my pain!

A pair of shining, brown eyes peek from below the shade of a wide brimmed hat, adorned by a small nose and an impish smirk right below them.

This is Pepper. Although short of stature and with a generally light complexion, this (apparently) young witch doesn't get pushed around by anyone -- or at least that's what she likes to believe.

She walks around with a stride of pure confidence, almost bordering on arrogance, even when all she does is run errands, coming and going through the rifts from one of her jobs to the other.

Pepper always got a knack for cooking, so it's no surprise that both of her jobs keep her near a kitchen, if “kitchen” here means something more like “alchemical laboratory,” that is.

On one side, she can be found as assistant in a not-quite-quaint confectionery, preparing treats with less than benign effects; while on the other, she'll be preparing strange beverages and snacks in a only-slightly-more-quaint café, assisted by her arcane texts littered with scribbles and notes from across the years.

Talking to her will reveal a mischievous, somewhat petty demeanor, and those who insist on engaging will find that this only gets worse the more one gets to know her, rather than the opposite.

However, as irritating as Pepper can be, the ones who come to be her friends can be sure that, even if she wouldn't die for their sake, she would certainly kill someone for them instead.
